Mental health involves all our daily life in terms of our emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
Mental Health affects our
- Ability to learn
- Ability to feel, express and manage a range of positive and negative emotions
- Ability to form and maintain good relationships with others
- Ability to cope with and manage change and uncertainty
Therefore a good management of our Mental health is very important to every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.
In our Daily lives we all face mental health concerns from time to time, however a mental health disorder becomes serious whenever you experience ongoing signs and symptoms that let you have frequent stress and affect your daily activities .
Mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, addictive behaviors ,eating disorders etc.
Symptoms of
MENTAL HEALTH Disorders
There is not a single sign or symptoms to conclude about mental illness however below are some of the common signs and symptoms which gives an indication about this illness :
- Always Feel sad or Down
- Lack of concentration and feel Confused
- Excessive fears or worries, or extreme feelings of guilt
- Extreme mood changes of highs and lows
- Isolation from other people
- Significant tiredness, low energy, or problems sleeping
- Detachment from reality (delusions), paranoia, or hallucinations
- Inability to handle daily problems or stress
- Excessive alcohol consumption or drug use
- Excessive eating habits
- Sex drive changes
- Excessive anger, hostility, or violence
- Suicidal thinking
In some cases mental health disorders present as physical health problems, such as stomach pain, back pain, headaches, or aches/pains which can’t be explained.
What causes mental illness?
There are several common causes of mental illness which have discovered by scientists up to now , which include
- Early adverse life experiences, such as trauma or a history of abuse (for example, child abuse, sexual assault, witnessing violence, etc.)
- Experiences related to long time illness like cancer or diabetes
- Biological factors or chemical imbalances in the brain
- Excessive usage of alcohol or drugs
- A history of mental illness in a blood relative, such as a parent or sibling
- Hardship in life situations, such as financial problems, loss of loved or a divorce
- Brain damaged from physical head injury (traumatic brain injury)
- Traumatic experiences, such as military combat or assault
